Production saw a number of delays due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic but would finally get underway in Atlanta in May of this year and officially concluding on August 31. As fans prepare for a new behind-the-scenes look at the sequel at this month’s DC FanDome, a new surprise has arrived from the set of the film. It features the return of Zachary Levi as Billy Batson’s (Asher Angel) superhero form known as Shazam, but he’ll have a brand new look. The movie is almost exactly two years away, but director David Sandberg has revealed the brand new Shazam: Fury of the Gods costumes for the entire returning cast of heroes. The main cast of the movie and its director David F. Sandberg may have refrained from mass follows doled out to these secret stars (who, judging by the dates, began their shoot or at least rehearsals in early March).

Fury of the Gods leaked online, offering fans a complete look at the new suit. Shazam: Fury of the Gods is currently in production in Atlanta, Georgia and multiple behind-the-scenes images have surfaced online due to its public filming locations. Shazam: Fury of the Gods will change that by the looks of these set photos, which can establish Hespera and Kalypso as even greater threats to Shazam. Judging from the title of the movie, the daughters of Atlas could very well be the gods who are pissed at Shazam.
Alongside other returning cast members like Batson’s superpowered family, new to the cast are Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren who play the daughters of Atlas and the villains for the movie. Helen Mirren’s Hespera and Lucy Liu’s Kalypso are both demi-gods who might be powerful enough to cause this level of damage to Shazam’s suit. The cause of Shazam’s suit being damaged might still be a mystery, but the fact that it is damaged at all is potentially revealing. The actor comes clean and admits that Shazam’s physique wasn’t 100% Zachary Levi and that there was some padding used to fill out that suit. Shazam’s lightning bolt chest logo is also slightly altered to match the overall ensemble. While all modern superhero suits are textured, shazam suit cost that pattern we see spreading outward from the lightning bolt along the chest and shoulders feels lifted directly from Gary Frank’s Shazam comics design. In the comics, Eugene’s affection for digital devices and technology also opened up a new door into the Shazam mythology. In multiple interviews after Shazam! The Shazam Family, basically Billy Batson and his five foster siblings, all infused with various powers of Shazam, made their surprise debut in the climax of the first film. But, some people criticized the actor when the first BTS photos were leaked online, as his suit looked heavily padded. Another set photo he shared showed the muscle-bound actor screaming dramatically while a camera on a robotic arm was placed behind him. Shazam is getting a bit of a costume change for the sequel according to a new teaser (that showed up suspiciously after some set photos leaked). Remember the thing about getting the variant before getting the standard? And also the thing with the gold? The director of Shazam! However, for fans excited to see Billy Batson return with his full family alongside him, it’s likely today’s update from Sandberg was nothing short of electrifying as the director gave us our first glimpse of the heroic Shazam Family, on set in their updated costumes.
